Men’s Basketball Commences Sun Conference Play

LAKELAND, Fla. - Southeastern faces a pair of Sun Conference foes for the first time in the 2017-18 season.  The Fire have demonstrated their explosiveness this season and aim to utilize their depth to bounce back and capture a pair of wins this week.

THE OPENING TIP
  • Southeastern takes on a Webber International team that is coming off of a road loss against Edward Waters.  
  • Head coach R-Jay Barsh is 10 wins away from 100 wins at Southeastern. 
  • Dating back to 2003, the all time series between these two team is deadlocked at 8-8.  
  • History has shown that the Fire faired well at home posting a 5-3 record inside the Furnace.  
  • During last year's second meeting between these two teams, the Fire's CJ Reese and Wesley Johnson collected 25 and 22 points, respectively.
  • Isaac Barsh, one of the key leaders for the Fire, is coming off of a 16-point, game in which he also collected eight rebounds.  
  • The Warriors recently squared off against Stetson University in an exhibition game.  Jonathan Childs shot a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc and ended the game with 22 points. 
  •  Webber International is outscoring opponents 98-60 in the first half thus far.

  • In their lone Sun Conference matchup against Coastal Georgia, Nick Macon powered the Royals to victory with a 30-point performance, while tallying eight assists. 
  • Melton Saunders, and Macon are active on the defensive front collecting 10 steals apiece.
