LAKELAND, Fla.—Call it an East Region qualifier tune up.
The Fire wrestling team heads into its final three dual meets of the season against fellow Mid-South teams Brewton-Parker, Reinhardt, and Lindsey Wilson.
In action for the first time since a 19
th-place finish at the tough Missouri Valley Invitational, Southeastern will look for some key in-region victories to help the seeding process when it heads to Bowling Green, Ky. on February 17
th.
Freshman
Giovanny Bonilla had the best showing for the Fire at Missouri Valley, finishing third in his bracket, and running his record to a team-best 17-2. Bonilla has won 11 of his last 12 matches at 157.
In dual competition this season, Fire wrestlers are 73-63.
In Mt. Vernon, Ga., the 16
th-ranked Fire will take on Brewton-Parker, which is receiving votes in the Top 20 poll. Nathen Pristavec ranks second nationally at 157 in a loaded East Region, which includes Bonilla at seventh.
Reinhardt is 3-6 in duals this year and 1-4 against MSC opponents. Most recently, the Eagles knocked off St. Andrews 38-9, winning a pair of tech falls, two pins, and a major decision.
Seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson is at the top of the MSC leaderboard at 5-0 against conference opponents and 9-4 overall. The Blue Raiders will first take on fourth-ranked Campbellsville on Tuesday in a dual that could have major regular season title implications.
The Blue Raiders have a lineup of five ranked wrestlers including Cam Tessari, the top ranked 157-pounder in the NAIA.
