Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. - The Southeastern Fire took on the Florida National Conquistadors at home, but fell short by the score of 4-1. Although Southeastern produced a couple quality opportunities throughout the contest, the team was only able to get one shot past Conquistadors goalkeeper Marco Sordi throughout the duration of the game.
Florida National struck first in the 19th minute off the foot of Gabriel Barbosa. Momentum remained in favor of the Conquistadors, who posed a relentless attack while at the same time keeping the ball out of the Fire's possession. At the end of the first half, it appeared as if the Fire had gained some traction, but they were never able to find the back of the net.
Early into the second half, the Conquistadors' Barbosa beat Fire goalkeeper Jorge Navarrete to the short side, for Barbosa's second goal of the game. Shortly after, the Conquistadors struck again, this time as the result of a shot from Allan Sorato. The Conquistadors rattled off a total of four goals, with the last one coming from Pedro Veiga, who curved the ball just inside the far post to beat Southeastern's keeper, Navarrete.
The Fire got on the board in the 75th minute after a penalty shot taken by Pedro Ivo Dias beat Conquistador goalkeeper Sordi to the right side of the net, resulting in Ivo Dias' third goal of the season.
The match between the two teams was a physical one, keeping the center referee, Julio Noboa, very busy in issuing five yellow cards. Three of these cards went the way of the Conquistadors, while the other two were issued to the Fire.
Southeastern looks to bounce back from this loss when they travel to Keiser University on Wednesday, September 28th, with kick off starting at 3 p.m.
