CLERMONT, Fla.—The top seed in The Sun Conference Softball Tournament was eliminated in the final game of the consolation bracket.
Southeastern gave up two unearned runs in the top of the seventh, falling 3-1 to USC Beaufort.
The Fire started quickly, getting a triple from
Taylor Stoltz in the first, and was singled in by
Anna Martin.
However, they managed just four more hits after the first inning off of the USCB pitching tandem of Naomi Catt and Abby Pac.
After surrendering the lead in the top of the seventh, the Fire loaded the bases with one out in the bottom half of the inning, but back to back strikeouts ended the game.
SEU pitcher
Lindsie Scholwinski allowed no earned runs on four hits, striking out seven, and coaxing 10 groundouts.
Brittany LaCasse was the main catalyst for the Fire, totaling three of Southeastern's seven hits, going a perfect 3-for-3.
The Fire will now await a possible at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round.
