Back to Back:
Southeastern is making its second straight appearance in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The Fire went 1-2 last year in the Lindsey Wilson Bracket in their first appearance.
No. 1:
This year, the Fire enter the Davenport as the top seed. Since the NAIA went to the opening round format in 2013, No. 1 seeds have won 21 of the 30 events.
FAMILY-iar Foe:
In the first game of the tournament, Southeastern will face No. 4 seed Indiana Wesleyan, coached by Steve Babinski- the brother of SEU head coach
Anna Welsh. Welsh has won the previous 11 meetings against Babinski, including a doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats in Lakeland in March of 2013 during Southeastern's inaugural season.
Alma Mater:
On the opposite side of the bracket is No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene University, Welsh's alma mater. During her career, she helped the Tigers win the 2000 NCCAA National Championship, and was an NCCAA All-American and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
Davenport:
The Fire faced No. 2 seed, and host Davenport on February 27
th at the Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont with SEU winning a 1-0 contest. Fire junior
Lindsie Scholwinski out-dueled DU's Emily Maves, with the two pitchers going complete games and combining for seven hits and 14 strikeouts.
Anna Martin drove in the game's only run with two outs and a runner on first with a double to left.
The two teams also met in 2015 with the Panthers winning a pair of 8-3 contests.

The next win by the Fire will be their 40
th of the season, matching the program record.
Year Four:
This is the fourth season of Fire softball, posting an all-time record of 142-65.
Bri Girardin and
Emily Bryant are the only two remaining seniors from the original 2013 team. Girardin is the program's all-time leader in games played, appearing in 185 of the 207 contests played.
Postseason Pitching:
During The Sun Conference Tournament,
Lindsie Scholwinski posted a 0.67 ERA in 21 innings of work, striking out 24 batters, and walking three. Opponents hit just .198 against her.
Runs:
The Fire scored just five runs during The Sun Conference Tournament in three games, posting a team batting average of .233; almost 100 points lower than their current season average of .327.
She's Back:
After suffering a foot injury in the season opener,
Brittany LaCasse returned to the diamond last weekend in the conference tournament. The senior went 3-for-3 in her final game of the weekend against USCB. Defensively, LaCasse had six assists on the weekend playing third base for the first time in her career.
Larceny:
Southeastern ranks sixth in the NAIA in total stolen bases with 131. Senior
Bri Girardin broke the school record this season with 38.
Inning Eater:
Lindsie Scholwinski is second in the NAIA in innings pitched with 236. She has set the program season record in innings pitched, wins, strikeouts, and ERA this year.
