LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire suffered their first Sun Conference loss of the season on Friday, but not before clinching The Sun Conference the game before. Ave Maria is next before the 10
th ranked Fire begin their postseason quest.

REPEAT: With the game-one win over Webber on Friday afternoon, the Fire clinched the regular season Sun Conference title and the No. 1 seed in the postseason for the second consecutive year. As the top seed, the Fire receive a first round bye and are set to play the winner of No. 4 Thomas vs. No. 5 Warner on Thursday, May 5
th.
LAST HOORAH: Five Fire seniors will play their final home game tomorrow before heading into the post season.
Bri Girardin and
Emily Bryant have grown with the program since its 2013 inaugural season. Joining them in their final seasons are
Anna Martin,
Annie Weaver, and
Brittany LaCasse. Each senior will be recognized in a special ceremony between games.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Southeastern kicked off Sun Conference play with Ave last season on March 28
th and swept Gyrenes 1-0 then 6-4.
Susan Hinks had the lone RBI in game one and
Annie Weaver was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the game-two win. The tables turned in the TSC Tournament though. The No. 6 Gyrenes upset the No. 1 Fire 3-1 for their first loss of the tournament.
THE GYRENES: Ave Maria visits Lakeland after having lost three straight TSC games. Their last win was over USCB, 6-1 in game one of a doubleheader then the lost game two and were swept by Thomas the next day. On Saturday they added two wins to their overall record by beating Edward Waters 10-1 then 5-2. Senior outfielder Kingsley Avery leads the pack in batting average with a .367. Sadie Mosher and Marinna Shadley are tied for first in RBI's with 55 apiece.
