LAKELAND, Fla. – Six wins last week have Southeastern softball looking to maintain momentum as they begin Sun Conference Play on Saturday against Ave Maria University.
A walk-off single by
Anna Martin in the bottom of the seventh secured the Fire's sweep of Purdue Calumet on Wednesday. Game one ended 4-1 then the Fire worked back from a 3-0 deficit in game two to tie the ballgame with an inning to play. With one out and
Sydnie Malloy on third, Martin ripped a single to right field for the win.
On Thursday, Southeastern took game one from Tennessee Wesleyan 7-1 and game two was another come-from-behind, 4-3 win. This time, the winning RBI was courtesy of freshman Alex Millett in the bottom of the fourth, then
Annie Weaver scored the go-ahead on the throw.
Southeastern's final wins of the week were on Saturday over Northwestern College, 9-4 then 2-0. In game two, the Fire scored one run in each of the first and second innings with the winning RBI belonging to Martin who singled to score Stoltz. Weaver scored the insurance run the next inning on a squeeze bunt by
Sydnie Malloy.
Lindsie Scholwinski and
Cat Maldonado each earned three wins from the circle. Scholwinski maintained a 0.39 ERA in 18 innings and struck out 25 of 73 batters faced. Maldonado pitched three full games striking out 14 and allowing just three earned runs.

This Year: 4-0…Swept Ottawa and Saint Mary to begin their season…Play Webber this afternoon and Warner on Wednesday before visiting Lakeland…Collectively hitting .330…Led by sophomore infielder #22 Macie Jones who has seven hits in 14 appearances including a double, a home run and five RBI's.
