Fire Wrestling Dominant in Regular Season Finale

Southeastern Fire Wrestling won its last dual meets of the regular season, as the Brewton-Parker Barons and the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles both fell to the Fire 38-6 and 41-15, respectively.

Southeastern was looking to even their conference record, and clinch second place in the Mid-South East Division in the first dual against Brewton-Parker.

With an early forfeit for Southeastern at 125 pounds, Ethan Owen (133) kept the momentum going with a big technical fall win against Omar Ruiz.  Owen racked up 10 unanswered points in the first period, which would set him up for the 18-2 win in the third.

Aaron Wiechel (149) followed with another technical fall with an impressive 19-2 win, racking up eight near-fall points in the third period after his opponent tried for an escape by choosing the down position to start the period.  Zach Wood would get the only pin of the meet about halfway through the first period.  Rives (174) and Cruz (197) would add decision wins, along with Knight's (184) major decision to the team score. The Fire only allowed six points to Barons off of two decision wins.

Olson Delisca (125) and Owen (133) would set the pace with two first period pins back-to-back to give the Fire a 12-point lead out of the gate against Florida Gulf Coast.  Two more pins came later in the match from Timmy Dinsdale (157) and Zach Wood (165).  Dinsdale, would turn an escape into a reversal straight to the opponents back for his pin in the second period. Zach Wood made quick work of his opponent in the first period.  After another forfeit in favor of Southeastern at 174, Aris Knight (184) had an impressive technical fall victory, putting together seven take downs over the course of three periods.  Southeastern would only give up two pins on the day against the eagles at both 197 pounds and at 285.

The Fire return to action at the National Qualifier on February 20th in Marietta, Georgia.
