MIAMI, FLA.-- Team basketball wins games.  The Fire were able to spread the floor and the results showed for it as they took down Florida Memorial by a score of 83-56.

The win boosts Southeastern to 20-4 overall and 11-2 in conference play.  Florida Memorial falls to 5-18 and 3-10 in conference.

Out of the 28 shots that fell for Southeastern, 19 of them were assisted.  Ball movement was a key factor in the victory, and the Fire were able to create space and get quality shots.

In the first period, the Fire were efficient as they shot 53% on 9-17 field goal shooting.  The Fire got even better in the second period as well as their 3-point shooting got going too.  Southeastern shot 3-5 from the arc in the second period and finished 7-15 from 3-point land for the first half.

The offensive explosion almost overshadowed the defensive effort by the Fire.  In the second half, the defense helped the Lions shooting go completely cold as they held Florida Memorial to 1-16 from beyond the arc.

In the third, the Fire started on an 8-2 run.  The Fire were able to be successful in the paint as the Fire went 6-6.  Ball movement and efficient shooting aided the Fire as they outscored Florida Memorial 30-12 in the third period en route to a 27-point margin of victory.

Southeastern had five players score in the double digits--Alyssa Ramos, Ali Sanders, Bailey Hooker, Carlie Newman, and Tiara Young.

Ramos led the offense, scoring 16 points on 5-11 shooting from the arc.  She also brought down four rebounds and finished with three assists.  Hooker also had an impressive game, scoring 15 points on 6-10 FG shooting.

Newman had an all-around solid performance as she scored 12 and brought down five boards to go along with five assists.

Young had 12 points off the bench while bringing down six rebounds.  Sanders finished with 10 points and five boards.

The Fire are back in action Wednesday night as they'll travel up to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the Thomas University Night Hawks.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
