LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern University wrestling team posted a perfect record in its first two duals in program history at its new home facility.
Fire wrestlers were 20-0 in Saturday morning's dual meets against Allen (S.C.) and USF.
Against Allen, the Fire totaled five pins, three coming in the first period to come away with a 56-0 win. The most thrilling of the group belonged to heavyweight
Silas Root, who scored a pin in the final second of the final period to get the Fire six points.
Tim Dinsdale (165) scored his seventh win of the year, and his third by fall, scoring a pin victory over Josh Allen just 49 seconds into the match.
Caleb Rudisill (141),
Adrian Hughes (149) and
Zach Colgan (174) also won by fall.
Zech Rives tallied the highest point total, scoring 14 back points in a second period technical fall.
Against USF, the Fire recorded five more pins and a technical fall to win 59-0.
Olson Delisca picked up his ninth win of the year with a pin 52 seconds into his match at 125. Rudisill and Rives also had first period pin victories.
Giovanny Bonilla picked up his eighth win of the year, and third tech fall of the season with a 16-1 victory over Jeremy Gardner at 157.
The Fire return home on Thursday for a Mid-South Conference dual match against Truett McConnell at 7:30.
