LAKELAND, Fla.—In the final match of the 2016 season, the Fire defeated Johnson and Wales in a convincing 3-0 match.
Southeastern had three attackers hit .500 or better, and recorded a .433 team attacking percentage. This was powered by a first set that saw SEU hit .647 with 12 kills and one error on 17 attacks in a 25-4 win.
The second set featured more of the same, with Southeastern hitting .529 as a unit, and saw
Kelsey Morton and
Abbie Devisfruto each dial up three aces in the set.
The Fire finished the match with 15 total aces, led by four from Devisfruto.
Five more aces in the third set helped the Fire take a 13-2 lead, and come away with a 25-9 victory.
Leading the attack was
Kaitlin Boyd with nine kills, a .692 attacking percentage, two aces, three digs, and three blocks.
Kelsey Morton added eight digs, a .583 attacking percentage, four digs, and three blocks. Uche Kojo was efficient with six kills on eight attacks (.750) with an ace, a dig, and five blocks.
Alyssa Prescott added 10 digs defensively, and
Lindsey Fleming led the offense with 27 assists.
