BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Fire women's basketball team competed in a Sun Conference matchup on the road against the Webber International Warriors and reigned victorious when the final horn sounded by a score of 86-62. Early on, the Warriors applied a great deal of full court pressure in an attempt to slow the Fire down. Southeastern's ball movement and inside-out game, however, proved too much for the Warriors.
Fire senior guard Alyssa Ramos led the charge with double digit points, in addition to four other Southeastern players. Ramos finished the game with 19 points on 6 of 7 shooting from behind the arc.
Christin Strawbridge dominated the paint for Southeastern, shooting 5 for 7 from the floor and being perfect, 5-5, at the free throw line. Strawbridge also had four rebounds.
The Fire's facilitator this evening was Ana Richter. The Miami of Ohio transfer finished with six assists, creating space beyond the three point stripe for Jenny Dee and Bailey Hooker who generated 11 and 14 points respectively. In addition, Sarah Green had a solid night for Southeastern, contributing 13 points and three blocks.
During the first half, the Warriors pushed the ball up the floor and netted easy baskets. Emmarrie Carmen was the leading scorer for Webber with 15 points. The Fire's defense stepped up the pressure, forcing 13 Warrior turnovers that ultimately resulted in 21 points for Southeastern.
The Fire resume action on Friday, November 26, when they travel to Kingsport, Tenn., to take on Union College at 3 p.m.
