LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern women's basketball team put on quite a show in its home opener.
 
A balanced scoring attack, and a defense that forced 19 turnovers helped the Fire defeat Taylor University 82-56 to move to 3-0 on the season against Crossroads League teams.
 
Ana Richter gave the Fire a spark off the bench, scoring five early points to jump start the offense, which missed its first four shots of the night. After the first quarter, the Fire held a 22-14 advantage, with the Trojans struggling from the field.
 
Southeastern closed the first half on a 9-0 run and took a 46-27 lead at the intermission.
 
In the third quarter, SEU forced five turnovers, and held Taylor to just 4-of-15 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, the Fire offense started attacking the post, getting 12 of its 20 points in the paint, and held a 66-38 lead heading to the final 10 minutes.
 
The Fire went on to lead by as many as 30 at two different points in the fourth quarter.
 
Bailey Hooker scored a game-high 19 points, and pulled down five rebounds, dished out three assists, and added a steal. Senior 
Christin Strawbridge added 18 points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.
 
Sarah Green and 
Ana Richter each added 11 points. Green also had seven rebounds and three blocks in 25 minutes of action.
 
The Fire return to the floor on Thursday, opening up Sun Conference play at Ave Maria.
