For the first time in program history, the Fire will host a game at Victory Field as a member of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Southeastern checks in as the No. 20 team in the latest edition of the poll, marking the highest ranking in program history.
Â
The Fire have won three straight in The Sun Conference, and have scored at least 51 points in all three league games. Following an uncharacteristic start, the offense has come on strong and is now averaging 35.4 points and 357.2 yards per contest.
Â
In last week's win at Ave Maria, running back
Jarrell Reynolds rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown to become the first 3,000 yard rusher in program history, and just the third coach
Keith Barefield has had in his 18-year college coaching career.
Â
Reynolds was named The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week, joining teammates
David Green (Defense) and
Michael Wheary (Special Teams) on the league honor roll. Green recorded 12 tackles including four for loss as the defense stymied the Gyrenes ground game. Wheary took a punt 62 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and totaled 206 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.
Â
Point has struggled on both sides of the ball this season, eking out its lone win of the season with a late touchdown in the final two minutes of the game at Edward Waters.
Â
A very young roster has averaged just 10.8 points per game and has given up an average of 36.3 points per game.
Â
Quarterback Rashad Louie has been the catalyst this season, passing for 424 yards, rushing for an additional 408, and is responsible for five touchdowns.
Â
This is the second time the Fire have hosted Point for Homecoming. In 2014, Southeastern came away with a 47-10 win. The Fire are unbeaten on Homecoming, scoring a 66-0 win over Ave Maria last year.
Â
Tailgating begins at 4:30 p.m. at
Victory Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. to the general public and 6 p.m. for students.
