Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Fire volleyball team ended its stay at the Faulkner Invitational with a pair of losses to Brenau University (3-0) and the hosts by the score of 3-2.
Against Brenau, the Fire kept each set close, falling 25-18 and 25-22, then lost a tough 28-26 finale.
Freshman
Victoria Trueheart was the key to the offense, registering a team-high 12 kills on 36 swings. Uche Kojo chipped in with seven kills.
Alyssa Prescott had a team best 28 assists, and
Jordan Wheeler led the squad in digs with 15.
The Fire wrapped up the weekend with a back and forth battle with the host Eagles. The Fire took the first set 25-21, but Faulkner retaliated with a 25-11 win. A 25-15 win for Southeaster put them one set away from victory, but the Eagles closed the match with a 25-18 and 15-13 win.
Trueheart cranked out a career-high 17 kills and recorded a .300 hitting percentage in the losing effort. Kojo added 11 on 27 attacks.
Lindsey Fleming dished out a season-high 43 assists, and
Alyssa Prescott had a season-high 31 digs.
The Fire (3-3) return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Temple Terrace to take on Florida College at 7 p.m.
