Polk County Rivals Next Up for Volleyball

LAKELAND, Fla.—Following a 1-1 week to open up Sun Conference play, the Fire volleyball team is on the road this week for a pair of conference contests.
 
Although on the road, the Fire won't be far from home as they take on Webber International on Tuesday and Warner on Thursday in a pair of key contests.
 
Saturday, the Fire swept Florida Memorial 3-0 to move to 1-1 in conference play and 8-4 overall.
 
The Fire dropped a four-set match on Thursday in Miami Gardens to preseason favorite St. Thomas, dropping the first set 25-22, winning the second 25-22, before falling 25-12, 25-22 in the final two sets.
 
Webber International enters tomorrow's game with a 3-8 record, and are 1-1 in conference play. Last week, they defeated Ave Maria in straight sets, then lost to Keiser in straight sets. The Warriors are fifth in The Sun Conference in digs per set at 13.6 and are led by Michelle Calderon's 3.9 digs per set average. Lauren Dehls leads the offense with 51 kills this season.
 
The Royals are currently atop the league leaderboard with a 3-0 TSC record, and are 8-4 overall. The four opponents Warner has lost to are a combined 63-10. Two losses were in four sets, one was in five, and 21-0 Evangel won in three.
 
As a team, they rank 15th in the NAIA in aces per set at 2.3. They have 102 total aces this year, led by Angie Pagan-Perez, who has 21. Breeanna Navarro is second in the conference in hitting percentage at .280, registering 112 kills on 275 attacks.
