Box Score BEAUFORT, S.C. – The Southeastern women's soccer team recorded their first conference win of the season this afternoon, besting the Sand Sharks of the University of South Carolina Beaufort 4-2.
The Fire enjoyed a 2-0 buffer at half after
Alyssa Kaminski connected on a PK in the 16
th minute and
Karly Palmar beat the keeper in the 33
rd minute with a service from
Sydni Brookhouser.
Kaminski found the back of the net once again in the 54
th minute with an assist from Palmar to make it 3-0.
Heidi Ruth, a sophomore transfer from Clearwater Christian, scored her first goal with the Fire in the 60
th minute. It was an unassisted long strike from the right wing that put the Fire's final goal on the board.
The Sand Sharks threatened a comeback with a successful PK in the 69
th minute and a second goal in the 76
th, but fell short in the remainder.
Southeastern outshot the Sand Sharks 23 to 16, 15 of which were on frame.

Jessica McClernan saw the first 63 minutes and recorded four saves.
Kaitlyn Romero took over for the final 27 minutes, allowing two goals and saving three.
"It was a great opportunity for us to see how we match up to conference opponents," said Coach
Renee Lopez. "We were able to get on the board early with a PK that resulted from a great offensive attack, then continued to create opportunity for ourselves. Our youthfulness showed with their two goals at the end, but we look to fix those defensive break downs as we progress through the weekend."
The Fire remain in South Carolina to take on Columbia International on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
