Fire Set Sights on Eagles

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southeastern men's soccer team will take on the Trinity Baptist Eagles tonight as they look to notch win four in their final game before conference play begins.

In their last meeting, the Fire defeated the Eagles 7-1 for a season opening victory.

The Eagles wasted no time drawing first blood as they took a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute, but a Fire response came off the foot of Pedro Ivo Dias just 34 seconds later to knot it at one.

The score remained even at half before freshman Grayson Wilkes netted the go-ahead and the first of his career in the 50th minute.

Five additional Fire goals highlighted the second half, two of which belonged to senior Christian Bores. Freshman Jonathan Jimenez also found the net twice and Nick Wilson capped it off with goal seven in the 80th minute.

The NCCAA DII Eagles are undefeated since falling to the Fire and have most recently defeated Toccoa Falls Collge 3-0.

"We are looking to play to our potential not to the result of the last meeting," said Coach Clay Roberts. "I am looking for us to rebound off a tough loss to Rollins, execute our game plan and play a mentally strong game both offensively and defensively. We need to gain some confidence going into conference play."

Kickoff is scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. at the SEU soccer complex.
