LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern men's soccer is in its third week of competition sitting at 2-1 and most recently falling to Georgia Gwinnett on Sunday.
The Fire had a 3-1 advantage over GGC at half, with goals by
Jake Van Der Luit,
Christian Bores and
Pedro Ivo Dias, but the Grizzlies fought back netting three in the final twelve minutes of play.
Three days prior, they bested Columbia International University, 2-1 in overtime, with the game winner belonging to
Gerritson Craane.
A single game this week puts the Fire on the pitch against Florida National University in its inaugural year of men's soccer on Saturday afternoon.
The Conquistadors will visit Lakeland with a 1-2-4 record. They took down Florida Memorial, 1-0 in the season opener and have since tied three other TSC members including Keiser, Warner and Johnson & Wales.
"It's going to be a tough game," said head coach
Clay Roberts. "I've seen them play and they are very talented. They are not to be underestimated and we're not treating it that way."
Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Southeastern soccer complex.
