Wrestling Heads to Cougar Duals

LAKELAND, Fla.—It's back to work for the Fire wrestling team after a historic night last Friday. The Fire are fresh off their first home dual in program history, which also resulted in the first dual meet victory over USF by the score of 45-6.

Southeastern was dominant Friday night, earning five victories by fall, a technical fall, and a major decision.

On Saturday, the Fire will participate in the Cougar Duals at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa.

Southeastern is currently 1-2 in dual meet competition, and will be looking to gain some momentum before resuming its Mid-South Conference slate.

The Fire are one of six collegiate teams participating. Simultaneously, there will be a 32-team individually bracketed high school tournament held in the entertainment hall on the Florida State Fairgrounds. The event will use eight mats in total.

The Fire will open up the day in a dual against the University of Florida's NCWA club team at 10 a.m. Following, the Fire will face NAIA program Allen University of South Carolina at 11:30 a.m.

A rematch of Friday's dual against USF will take place at 1:30 p.m., with SEU taking on Newport News Apprentice School at 3 p.m. The Builders come in with a 2-2 record in dual matches, and were second at the Virginia Beach College Duals.

The day's last dual may be the toughest, as the Fire take on UCF's club team, which is ranked second in the NCWA National Coaches' Poll.

The team with the best record after its five matches will be crowned the champion.

All mats will be live streamed via FloWrestling for those with memberships. Updates will also be posted on Track Wrestling, with updates throughout the day on Twitter @SEUFireWrestle. For those wishing to attend, tickets are $4 per day at the door, and parking is $5.
