Men's Basketball hosts #17 St. Francis

LAKELAND, FLA.-- It was a rough week for the 14th ranked Southeastern men's basketball last week.  The team lost by scores of 18 and 35 to Sun Conference foes Webber International and Johnson & Wales.  They now stand at 5-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Against Webber, the Fire got off to a hot start by scoring the first 11 points of the game, the last coming on a Xavier Burrow 3-pointer at the 17:28 mark.  That lead disappeared four minutes later as the Warriors roared back to take a 13-11 lead.  The Fire had difficulty with the full-court press, and 21 turnovers turned the game into a blowout.

Hoping to get back in the win column, the Fire traveled down to Miami Gardens as the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales awaited them.  The Wildcats went 20-30 from the arc and shot 57% for the game, and the Fire had no answer as they shot 16% from the arc and 31% for the game.

There's only one game this week for the Fire; on Saturday, they'll host the University of St. Francis Cougars of Indiana.  The Cougars are 7-3 so far this season and riding a two-game winning streak, most recently beating Grace and Goshen.  Junior Kegan Comer leads the team with 15 PPG and assists with 3.3 per game.  Freshman Perry Poindexter averages 8.7 rebounds per game.
