Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Fire women's basketball suffered their third loss in four games this evening falling to NCAA Division II Lynn University 61-54.
A slow start would set the tone for the entirety as the Fire took their first of two leads up 9-8 at the 3:57 mark of the first quarter. The quarter ended 11-9 in Southeastern's favor and they maintained a single digit buffer until Lynn went up 16-14 just under five minutes into the second.
The Fire were down 22-21 at half. A four point play by
Alyssa Ramos to go up 30-29 in the third might have been a momentum shifter, but their second and final lead was short lived.
The third quarter ended in Lynn's favor 44-36 then they went up by 10 with 8:57 to play. The Fighting Knights maintained a six point or higher lead until the final buzzer and led by 10 an additional three times.
Christin Strawbridge led all scorers with 19 points and shot 64% from the field. Ramos followed with 13 and was responsible for four of the Fire's six successful long balls.
The Fire will return home to take the court against the University of St. Francis on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
