Solid Showing by Men’s Basketball at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—In an exhibition game, the Fire fell to Florida State 117-76, but played the ACC member Seminoles well.
 
The Fire finished the night 42% from the field, and outrebounded a much taller team by two. The biggest difference was the turnovers, where Southeastern had 19 compared to just five by FSU.
 
The Fire actually led by four 3:10 into the contest at 11-7, but the hosts outscored the Fire 23-8 over the next eight minutes to help amass a 57-35 lead at the end of the first half.
 
Florida State finished the night 65% from the field, and connected on 38% from outside on the night.
 
Jake Hodges paced the Fire attack with 19 points. Elijah Ray added a double-double effort of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Konieczny chipped in 14 points as well.
 
Malik Beasley had a game-high 23 points, for the Seminoles, and added five rebounds and three assists. Lakeland native Dwayne Bacon added 17 points, two boards and two assists to the winning effort.
 
The Fire will have a second exhibition game on Thursday when they host the South Coast Fire.
