Women's Basketball Prepares for Division II Trio

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southeastern women's basketball team has embarked on its first major road trip of the season as they prepare to take on three NCAA Division II squads throughout the week.
 
To date, they are 2-0 after defeating #21 Madonna University 62-58 in their season opener, then downing the Trinity Baptist Eagles 106-34 on Friday.
 
Bailey Hooker led the way against Madonna with 16 points and eight rebounds while senior Ali Sanders and junior Christin Strawbridge backed her up with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
 
Strawbridge recorded a double-double in the same game with 12 boards then followed up with another against Trinity Baptist with 17 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 80% from the field. Kristen Scholl also had a double-double against the Eagles with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Alyssa Ramos led all scorers with 20 points.
 
It two games, the Fire have shot 46% from the field, good for first in The Sun Conference and 19th in the NAIA.

This Year: 0-2…Suffered losses to Columbus State 81-41 and Georgia Southwestern 76-41…Senior guard Jayme Gilbert led the team in both games with 15 points and 11 points, respectively.

This Year: 2-0…Beat Albany State 67-54 and Fort Valley State 76-41 at the Peach Belt/SIAC Challenge last week…Senior guard Ja'Quasha Sesler leads the team with 14 points per game.
