Box Score LAKELAND, FLA.-- It was some kind of victory. After
Bailey Hooker landed the first 3-pointer 16 seconds into the game, the rout was on. In dominating fashion, the Southeastern women's basketball team downed the Trinity Baptist College Eagles, 106-34.
The first period made it clear that it was going to be a one-sided contest. The Eagles (2-4) only scored six points and shot 19% FG. SEU (2-0) went on a 28-0 run at one point during the period, shooting 61% and 55% for the game.
Alyssa Ramos scored 9 of her 20 points in the second period. The Fire outscored the Eagles 31-12 in the period to take a 67-18 lead to the locker room.
It was more of the same in the last half of the game. The Fire outscored the Eagles 39-16.
Kristen Scholl and
Christin Strawbridge both finished with double-doubles. Scholl scored 18 points and brought down 11 boards, and Strawbridge finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Ramos led the team in scoring for the game with her 20 on 8-11 FG shooting. Hooker scored 13 points and recorded a career-high eight assists.
Lauren Wilson and
Tiara Young also had double-digit scoring, recording 15 and 11 points, respectively.
The Fire are back in action Wednesday night as they'll travel up to St. Augustine to take on NCAA Division II Flagler College. Tip off is schedule for 6 p.m.
