LAKELAND, Fla. – In an exhibition match this evening, Southeastern men's basketball defeated the semi-professional South Coast Fire 110-80.
Southeastern took their first lead with 15:11 to play in the first half, 13-11, and extended to as much as much as nine before the Fire went up 36-35 at the 6:40 mark. Less than a minute later, Southeastern gained the lead for good and enjoyed a 14 point buffer at half, 57-43.
Southeastern's lead remained in the double digits through the entirety of the second half and a 36-14 run gave them their largest lead, up 33 with 5:29 to play.
Josue Celestin gets credit for the finale with the 110
th point on a slam dunk with 34 seconds left.
Elijah Ray led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and shot 75% from the field.
Xavier Burrow followed with 14 points while
Jake Hodges and
Joe Little both put up 12.
The Fire's next task will be Johnson University on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at The Furnace.
