Fire Blank Bobcats

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Fire moved to 2-1 in The Sun Conference with a 3-0 shutout of the St. Thomas University Bobcats this evening.
 
Victor Reyes found the net in the seventh minute to put the Fire on top 1-0. The Sarasota native has two goals to date, each of which were game winners.
 
Pedro Ivo Dias added his sixth goal of the season with a successful PK in the 41st minute to give the Fire a 2-0 buffer at half.
 
The second half was scoreless until the 87th minute when Ikenna Abika, a sophomore transfer from the College of Central Florida, netted his first goal of the season with an assist from Jonathan Jimenez.
 
Each team fired 12 shots in 90 minutes and Southeastern keeper, Jorge Navarrete made seven saves.
 
"I'm really proud of the guys for embracing the moment in a big Sun Conference game," said Coach Clay Roberts. "We played exactly how we trained and the guys executed perfectly. We'll need to find consistency going into a very similar game on Saturday."
 
The Fire (6-4, 2-1 TSC) will remain in Miami for a match with Florida Memorial on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
