Men's Soccer Honors Seniors with Win Over Florida College

Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern men's soccer honored its three graduating seniors tonight by closing out the regular season with a 4-0 win over the Florida College Falcons, good for a 13-4 record overall.

"It was a special night for our seniors," said Coach Clay Roberts. "These guys have meant so much to our program so to end the night with a good win and a great crowd is fantastic for the team."

After senior night ceremonies concluded, both teams took the field, and, despite a previous season ending injury, senior Christian Bores stood at midfield for what would be the final kickoff of his career.

The Falcons showed immeasurable sportsmanship by receiving the kickoff and immediately sending it out of bounds so that Bores could be subbed for, but more importantly, so that he could soak up his final moments on the pitch.

Fellow senior Ashton Hicks had a part in the game winner as he assisted Luke Marchesani with a cross from the left side that was finished from five yards out.

Senior excitement continued as Fire defender Kyle Krause scored the second goal, and just the third of his career, in the 26th minute. It was a header off a corner kick from Pedro Ivo Dias.

Kendall Crouse was responsible for the 3-0 buffer in the 38th minute, scoring his second of the season in the same fashion as Krause's, but this time the corner was taken by Gerritson Craane.

The score remained at half before Jonathan Jimenez netted the final goal of the game in the 74th minute. A free kick from 20 yards out hooked out of the keeper's reach and into the upper left corner.

With the win, the Fire notch their eighth shutout of the season and tally their 495th consecutive minute of scoreless soccer.

On top of the starting 11, 15 other players recorded minutes in the final regular season match.

"I'm happy to have gotten everyone into the game and given them the opportunity to contribute to the season," said Roberts. "We will keep going and use this long week to prepare for The Sun Conference tournament.

As the first seed in TSC post season play, the Fire will enjoy a quarterfinal by before they compete in the semifinal round on Saturday, November 7th. Their opponent will be determined by the outcome of Keiser versus Johnson and Wales on Tuesday.
