Women's Soccer Gearing Up for Regular Season Finale

?LAKELAND, FLA.-- The Southeastern University women's soccer team is on the verge of a playoff spot after splitting last week's games against Warner and Webber International.  Wednesday night, the Fire will need a win over Ave Maria to remain in the hunt for a bid in The Sun Conference tournament.
SEU's five seniors will be honored before the game as well; Bre Eldridge, Charity Nelson, Jamie Paton, Tori Irvin, and Ashley Lopez will be recognized at midfield.
In the game against Warner last week, the Fire took the match by a score of 5-3.  Alyssa Kaminski netted the first two goals of the contest, and then Sydni Brookhouser, Bre Eldridge, and Shayna goal added scores of their own to provide all the offense the team needed.
Three days later, the Fire went down to Babson Park to take on the Webber International Warriors.  The Warriors tacked on a pair of goals before the Fire could answer and ended up dropping the match, 2-1.
Before the last game of the season, the Fire stand at 4-5 in Sun Conference play and 9-6 overall.
The Gyrenes are 2-7 in conference play and 6-9 overall.  At 10th place in the conference, they're out of the playoff picture.  Alexia Mazzoccone leads the team in goals (8) and shots (37).  The last time the Fire and Gyrenes met, the Fire came away with a 2-0 victory.  Samantha Pifer and Eldridge had goals in the contest.
