Men’s Soccer Makes History with Win over Thomas

Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Southeastern men's soccer secured their fourth consecutive Sun Conference victory this afternoon over seventh ranked Thomas University, good for their first win over an NAIA Top 25 team in program history.

"Yet another great win for our team," said Coach Clay Roberts. "Thomas is one of the best in the country and we knew we had to be at our best to win."

Pedro Ivo Dias added his eighth goal of the season in the 29th minute for the lone goal of the game. It was a flawless free kick that sliced to the left of both the wall and the keeper to find the back of the net.

The Night Hawks outshot the Fire 21-6 and 11-3 on goal, and freshman keeper Jorge Navarrete made 11 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

"Our team defended with discipline and urgency and our back line was tremendous against some of the top forwards in the country," said Roberts. "Kudos to us as a team as this was truly a team effort."

The Fire (9-4, 5-1 TSC) will look to add double digits to the win column on Wednesday as they return home to take on Warner University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
