Box Score 4 MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Southeastern volleyball team ran their season record to 5-3 after winning three of their four contests at the Faulkner Invitational over the weekend.
The Fire opened the tournament with a convincing 3-0 win against NCAA Division II Spring Hill College. After winning the first set 25-20, the Fire followed with 25-19 and 25-14 victories to knock off the Badgers for the first time in program history. Senior Carol Reis led the way with 15 kills and no errors, and had a .750 attacking percentage.
They followed that up with another 3-0 win, this time, over the host Eagles, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-19, and finished the night with a 27-25 win. Again, it was Reis leading the way with 18 kills, two solo blocks, and four assisted blocks.
Saturday, the Fire cruised to a 3-0 win over Truett-McConnell College, winning 25-9, 25-15, 25-14. Lydia Rooth led the team with a double-double 10 kills and 13 digs. Senior Madeline Hanshaw added eight kills and 13 digs.
The only loss of the weekend came to #10 Lindsey Wilson College 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-10). The Fire struggled against a tough block by the Raiders, who recorded 10 total. The Fire also had 27 attack errors in the contest.
Reis along with fellow senior Katie Trenski were both named to the all-tournament team.
The Fire will host Florida Memorial on Friday at 4 p.m. for their home opener.
