Volleyball Sweeps Ave Maria

Box Score

NAPLES, FL–The SEU volleyball team escaped Ave Maria in straight sets Tuesday evening.  The Fire (7-4, 2-1 TSC) edged out the first two sets by scores of 28-26 and 29-27 before blowing out the Gyrenes (1-7, 0-3 TSC) in the third set 25-15.

SEU wasn't sharp out of the gate; serving and attacking errors kept slowing the Fire down.  They were able to right the ship in time, as they were able to come away with close victories in the first couple sets.

Once again, Carol Reis was a force, pounding out 14 kills for the Fire. Freshman Toree Dumas had her best game of the season so far; Dumas scored 12 kills while hitting with a .647 attacking percentage and added a couple solo blocks as well.

Southeastern moves into a third place tie with Northwood in the Sun Conference standings.  They only trail St. Thomas (3-0 TSC) and Warner (1-0 TSC).  The Fire travel to West Palm Beach, FL to take on Northwood Saturday at 2pm in a Sun Conference matchup.  After that, they will then take on Palm Beach Atlantic University later that evening at 7pm.
