Box Score

CLEARWATER Fla. – A goal with just over 2:00 to play gave the Fire a 2-1 win over Clearwater Christian.

With the game tied at one with 2:12 left, Kylee White placed the game winner into the upper 90 off a cross from Ali Heath.

"There was no doubt in my mind that we would find the game winner," said coach Bronson Gambale. "The character of this team always finds ways to keep fighting and pull it out."

The Fire held a 1-0 lead through the first half until the Cougars answered in the 62nd minute with a high shot just out of reach of Fire keeper Kaitlyn Romero.

SEU opened the game with a fast start; in just the 3rd minute of play Chloe Durham put the Fire's first goal on the board. Playing the right back position, Chloe sent a long ball into the box from about 40 yards out that slipped by the keeper resulting in the first goal of her collegiate career.

"I'm proud of our team. They kept pressing for opportunities and creating chances and when the ball wasn't bouncing our way they never gave up," said Gambale.

The momentum throughout the match belonged to the Fire as they outshot the Cougars 25-8.

The Fire are set to take on conference rival, Webber International on September 25th at 5 p.m.
