Box Score AUBURNDALE Fla. – Delayed by lightning and soaked by rain, the Fire pulled through with yet another shutout on the season as they defeated the Bruins of Bob Jones University, 3-0.
The Fire held the momentum in the first half, but it wasn't until the 20th minute that Ashton Hicks pounded the net off a free kick for their first goal of the game. Tyler Gay put number two on the board for the Fire in the 44th minute after finishing a shot by Victor Reyes that ricocheted off the hands of Bruins keeper, Joseph Wooster.
Gerritson Craane scored the Fire's third and final goal of the game in the 58th minute, assisted by Camillo Mejia.
"We knew that Bob Jones would be a good team," said Coach Clay Roberts. "Once we got things going the flow of the game began and our movement allowed us to create some great opportunities."
Coach Clay also credited his team's defensive performance as they held the Bruins to just three total shots in the second half; eight shots overall.
The Fire will face off against Warner tomorrow at 1 p.m. in their first conference match of the season.
