Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla.- Down a goal with 9:22 left in the first half in an evenly played soccer match, it looked as if the lone score might stand.
Southeastern stormed back with three unanswered goals to come away with their second win of the season and a 3-1 victory over the College of St. Mary.
Following the tally by the Flames, the Fire (2-1) got a free kick from 25 yards out, which was sent into the back of the net by Grace Brett to tie the game at one with 4:00 to play in the half.
In the 71st minute, a ball sent into the box by Jamie Paton was deflected by a handball, resulting in a penalty shot for junior Bre Eldridge, which she buried into the back of the net to the keeper's right.
Sophomore Karly Palmar finished the night with a breakaway from 30 yards out, then snuck a shot into the upper ninety, far post to put the Fire up 3-1.
"The whole week, we've talked about playing to our calling and our ability rather than to our age," said Coach Bronson Gambale. "I felt in the second half, we did some really good things; we possessed the ball, were dynamic, and created opportunities."
Southeastern will take the pitch at Flagler on Monday for their first road game of the year.
