Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla.- Southeastern picked up their first opening night win since 2010 with a 4-0 victory over Clearwater Christian Tuesday night.
The Fire (1-0) picked up their first goal of the season in the 36th minute when Kyle Krause was taken down inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Pedro Ivo Dias buried the kick into the lower ninety, far post, beating the keeper to his left.
In the second half, Camillo Mejia found the back of the net off of a feed from Alex Graham, which was finished eight yards out.
They picked up a pair of goals in the span of 30 seconds when Tyler Gay and Victor Reyes each finished crosses from the far left wing.
"I think the key was sticking to our game plan," said Coach Clay Roberts. "We felt we could dictate the flow of the game and maintain as much possession as possible."
Senior goalkeeper David Danahy made one save in 90 shutout minutes, as the Cougars (0-2) were limited to just three total shots.
The best shot for Clearwater Christian came in the 33rd minute, when a shot from 25 yards out pegged the crossbar.
"To come out opening night in front of a great crowd and produce four goals and a shutout, we're very pleased, but still have some work to do."
The Fire will next take the pitch Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Florida College in Auburndale.
