Bees Down Fire

Box Score

AUBURNDALE, FL–The Fire evened their record to 1-1-0 after a 2-0 loss to the Savannah College of Art and Design Bees.  Both teams battled heavy winds throughout the game; the Bees were able to overcome that, however, as the Bees dominated possession and had 12 shots on goal as opposed to the four from the Fire.

Ryanne Frazier of SCAD (2-1-0) scored the first goal of the game in the 27th minute of the first half by handling a corner kick and heading it into the back of the net.

In the 56th minute, Julia Mangione scored SCAD's other goal with a well-placed ball from 35 yards out.

The Fire had very few offensive chances throughout the game.  Their best shot on the goal was in the second half when Alyssa Kaminski was able to break free from the SCAD defense and send a well-struck ball to the net but goalie Sara Hall was able to make a diving stop to keep the Fire scoreless.

"When we played in our system, we could find our feet, we could find our rhythm, and get our opportunities.  Unfortunately we couldn't capitalize on our opportunities.  SCAD did a good job getting our girls out of rhythm," said Coach Bronson Gambale.

The Fire will take the pitch on Saturday when they host College of St. Mary in Auburndale at 7pm.
