CLERMONT, Fla.- Southeastern had their nine-game win streak snapped in a 5-0 loss to St. Thomas in The Sun Conference Softball Tournament Semifinal.
The Fire (36-16) tallied just five hits against Bobcat pitcher Cristina Sacramento, who threw a complete game shutout, recording nine strikeouts and no walks.
St. Thomas (26-25) picked up a run in the first after a leadoff walk and four illegal pitches brought in Sasha Horton. They added two more in the third on a two-run single by Christina Horton. They added an additional run on a two-out single in the fourth, and an insurance run on an RBI single down the left field line.
The only scoring threat the Fire put together was in the bottom of the seventh, when Taylor Stoltz and Cat Maldonado both singled to start the inning, but back to back strikeouts, and a fly out to left field ended the game.
Kaylee Mullenix recorded two of Southeastern's five hits on the day. The Fire will now take on South Carolina-Beaufort or Ave Maria in the consolation bracket final, with the winner moving into the conference final to face the Bobcats.
