CLERMONT, Fla.- Senior outfielder Kim Pierce combined to go 5-for-8 with 10 RBIs and a cycle for the day to help the Fire score a 4-3 comeback win over Warner, then a 10-1 win over top-seeded Embry-Riddle in five innings.
In the first game of the day against Warner, the Fire found themselves trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, when the Fire drew two walks, and with two outs, Pierce tripled to center field to score Bri Girardin and Brittany LaCasse. Pierce then stole home to tie the game at three.
It was Pierce again in the seventh when LaCasse doubled to lead off the inning and was brought in on a double to right center to win the game.
Anna Schillinger scored the win, working three scoreless innings in relief, and striking out two batters and allowed just two hits.
Against Embry-Riddle, the Fire picked up a run in the first on LaCasse's second double of the day, scoring DeVyn Barker from first. They added two more in the second when Barker walked with the bases loaded, then Kayle Mullenix scored on a throwing error to make it 3-0 Fire.
A solo home run by the Eagles in the bottom of the third made it a two-run game, but the Fire erupted for three in the fourth, with Pierce tripling with the bases loaded, then added four in the fifth on a grand slam by Pierce to enact the run-rule.
Lauren West picked up the win after working five innings, and allowing three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.
LaCasse finished the day 2-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI. Jen Hedrick went 2-for-3 against Embry-Riddle, and Nicci Hopps was 2-for-3 with two runs scored against the Eagles.
The Fire take on St. Thomas at 11:30 am Friday with the winner advancing to The Sun Conference Championship game.
