Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire lost their second straight game this afternoon to the Blue Raiders of NAIA Division I Lindsey Wilson College, 74-59.
The Fire struggled out of the gate, going down 16-0 in the first five minutes of play. A pair of free throws by Tiara Young at the 14:20 mark put the first Fire points on the board. Later, a 14-4 run put the Fire within four points heading into half.
A 3-point bucket by Emma Loucks less than two minutes into the second half gave the Fire their only lead of the game, up 35-34, but the Blue Raiders would pull away again to take the contest by a 15 point margin.
Leading the Fire in scoring was Alyssa Ramos with 16. Hannah Demarest led the team in rebounds with five while Cassidy Block was second in both scoring and rebounds with 10 and four, respectively.
"Rebounds were the key again today as we were up against a much bigger team, but we gave up 28 offensive rebounds," said Coach Jody Martinez. "I was really proud of the execution in the second half to take the lead. We just need to work on our mental toughness and staying focused."
The Fire move to 6-2 heading into break. They will take the court again on December 29th in Montgomery, Ala. against Faulkner University.
