Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.- Despite getting to 20 points first in each of the first two sets, the Fire dropped a 3-0 match to Webber International Tuesday night.
The Fire (13-9, 5-5 TSC) rallied back from five points down to take a 20-16 lead with a 13-4 run. However, the Warriors (13-13, 6-5 TSC) answered with four straight points to tie the match at 20, and came away with a 25-23 win.
Southeastern looked as if it would cruise in the second set, finally pulling away with a 20-14 lead after neither team led by more than two in the first 28 rallies. But, again, the Warriors answered, reeling off an 11-1 run to come away with a 25-21 victory.
The third set saw the Fire lead 17-15, but unable to close it out as Webber finished with a 10-3 run to close out the night.
Errors plagued the Fire, registering 19 attack, one service, five receiving, and three ball handling. "We've been struggling with keeping a lead this season," said Coach Audrey Gilbert. "We made some unforced errors and couldn't get any momentum going."
Lydia Rooth paced the offense with 17 kills, and a .464 attacking percentage. Alyssa Prescott tallied 22 of the 35 SEU assists. Katie Trenski was the lone player in double figures in digs for the Fire with 10.
The Fire return to Sun Conference play on Thursday when they host Warner University at 7 p.m.
