Fire Sweep Trinity

Box Score

LAKELAND, Fla.- Fire volleyball picked up their 12th win of the season with a 3-0 win over Trinity College. In the process, they recorded a season-best .479 attacking percentage.

The Fire cruised to a 25-8 first set victory, holding the Tigers to just a single kill, and registered 13 of their own on 20 attempts with no errors.

In the second set, the Tigers came back to tie the set at nine after falling behind early. However, the Fire scored the final eight points of the set to come away with a 25-13 as senior Carol Reis served up a pair of aces.

Trinity made Southeastern work in the final set, leading 17-12 before a timeout by coach Audrey Gilbert provided the motivation needed for a 13-4 run to take a 25-21 win to close out the night.

Reis led all scorers with 16 kills on 19 attacks for a .789 attacking percentage. Freshman Kelsey Morton had a career high 10 kills and a personal-best .467 attacking percentage. Sophomore Lindsey Fleming had 18 of Southeastern's 38 assists. Katie Trenski had a team-best eight aces and eight digs.

The Fire return to Sun Conference play tomorrow in Miami as they take on Florida Memorial.
