Fire Win on Senior Night

Box Score

LAKELAND Fla. – This evening, senior Ashly Duren played in her final home game and helped the Fire to their fourth conference win over Florida Memorial, 4-2.

"Today was extra special for Ashly Duren who is our only senior this year and I thought she had a brilliant game," said Coach Bronson Gambale. "I'm really proud of the career she's had and how she showed up today."

Bre Eldridge scored the first of four Fire goals in the 22nd minute after Alyssa Kaminski sent a cross into the box from the right side. The Fire went up 2-0 in the 33rd minute off the foot of Karly Palmar with an assist from Eldridge. Just six minutes later, Hunter Talley beat the keeper up the middle and finished from eight yards out putting the Fire up 3-0 at half.

In the 52nd minute, Palmar netted her second of the game after a corner kick was blasted into a crowded box and finished in the air at the goal mouth. A minute later the Lions put their first on the board, followed by their final score in the 72nd minute of play.

The Fire totaled 23 shots on the night to the Lion's nine, while keeper Jessica McClernan added five additional saves to her season total.

"It was a good, hard fought game," said Coach Bronson Gambale. "We used a lot of our depth to get some different looks and to help some girls heal and I was really proud of how our girls responded. We're excited to get another win and we're looking forward to Northwood."

The Fire head to West Palm Beach on Thursday to take on Northwood University at 3:00 p.m.
