Fire Fall in Third OT Game

Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – In their third straight overtime game, this time on the road, the Fire fell to Northwood University, 1-0.

"I am proud of our overall effort as a team," said Coach Clay Roberts. "We have found ourselves in three straight overtime games against top teams and we are proving ourselves every game."

Northwood out-shot the Fire in regulation, 20 to 4. Fire keeper, David Danahy recorded six saves in 90 minutes of shutout play to send the competition into overtime.

The game winner was scored by Northwood's Christian Costilla in the 4th minute of overtime, sending the Fire home with their third loss on the season.

"This was a battle of two different styles of play. We did a good job of developing opportunities and just didn't finish our chances. They are a good team and finished a good goal in overtime," said Roberts.

Coach Roberts also credits Shane Jones for his stellar defensive performance and spoke of the team's excitement on the return of Alan Hackney since their season opener.

The Fire head to Miami on Saturday to take on Johnson and Wales at 6:00 p.m.
