The Southeastern graduate has led both programs to their only NAIA National Championship appearances, including the first trip to Mobile in program history for the women's team in 2022. During that season, both programs recorded their first victories at the NAIA National Championship with the men's team picking up a 4-3 comeback win over Reinhardt and the women's team cruising to a 4-0 win over Midland.

Martina Picardi was named The Sun Conference Player of the Year and on the men's side, Federico Barbon and Roy Stepanov were The Sun Conference Doubles Team of the Year.

During his first full season as head coach in 2021, Coach Dickens guided the SEU men's tennis team to unprecedented heights. The Fire men advanced to The Sun Conference Tournament Final for the first time in program history after defeating St. Thomas 4-1 in the tournament semifinals. SEU received an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championship for the first time ever, where they bowed out to No. 16 Grace 4-2.

In his tenure as Interim Head Coach, Dickens guided both programs to historic seasons. The Fire women were ranked as high as 19th in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, and have posted a 16-4 record and placed third in The Sun Conference. Dickens, along with Keiser head coach Daniel Finn, was named The Sun Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.

On the men's side, the Fire went 13-8 with five of the eight losses by one point.

Both teams advanced to The Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals, marking the first time since 2016 both the men's and women's tennis teams qualified to that point.

"Drew stepped into a very difficult situation in the fall and has thrived, leading a program that didn't have a lot of success the last few years into the postseason," said SEU Athletic Director Drew Watson. "His energy, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the game of tennis played a big part in that turnaround and are the reasons I believe he is a perfect fit to lead the tennis programs into the future."

Prior to being named Interim Head Coach, Dickens served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for both programs throughout the 2017 season.

He was also a four-year standout for the SEU men's program, where he was three-time Academic All-Sun Conference and a two-time TSC Champion of Character.
