JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — Southeastern women's golf opened the season with a dominant performance at Jekyll Island Golf Club, winning the 15-team tournament by 45 strokes behind an individual title from Abbey Peterson.
The No. 10 Fire finished the three-round event at 16-over par, posting rounds of two-over, +13 and one-over to comfortably outdistance second-place Palm Beach State College at +61. No. 9 William Carey finished third at +69, while NCAA DI The Citadel and NAIA No. 12 Truett McConnell tied for fourth at +80.
Southeastern placed three golfers inside the top four, four inside the top six and all five members of its lineup inside the top 10, running the table from start to finish.
Peterson led the way for Southeastern by taking home individual medalist honors, shooting just one over par. She closed the tournament with a two-under-par 70 in the final round, firing a five-under 32 on the opening nine before coming home in 38.
Peterson was the tournament's top player on both par 3s and par 4s, averaging 2.92 on par 3s and 3.97 on par 4s. She also tied for the tournament lead with 10 birdies.
Elisa Sembenini finished second individually and did much of her damage on the par 5s, playing them four-under for the tournament with a 4.67 scoring average, second-best in the field. Sembenini added eight birdies and 35 pars.
2025 First-Team NAIA All-American Sadaly Campbell gave the Fire their third top-four finisher, taking fourth. Campbell was second among all players in par-4 scoring at 4.03 and finished the tournament with seven birdies and 36 pars.
Rivers Common finished sixth and played the par 5s at even par with a 5.00 scoring average, while also recording seven birdies.
Emma Tobias completed the Fire's top-10 sweep by tying for 10th. Tobias led the entire tournament with 37 pars and tied for third in par-4 scoring with a 4.13 average.
The Fire's dominance extended across the team statistics, as Southeastern finished first in scoring on par 3s, par 4s and par 5s.
Southeastern also led the 15-team field with 36 birdies and 175 pars.
Next up, the Fire head to the Innisbrook Invite, which begins Sept. 25 in Palm Harbor, Fla. The tournament will be hosted by Dalton State at Innisbrook Golf Course.
