SEU Sits Third After Round One

Fire rank top-three in birdies and pars; Campbell tied for third

LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Southeastern women's golf opened the Sun Conference Championship with a 10-over 298 on Sunday and sits third after the first round at Fountains Country Club.

Southeastern trails SCAD Savannah (+2, 290) and Keiser (+3, 291) but remains within striking distance entering Monday's second round. The Fire hold a sizable cushion on the rest of the field, with Coastal Georgia in fourth at +29.

A balanced and consistent team effort defined Southeastern's opening round. The Fire rank second in the field in pars (53) and third in birdies (11), while also sitting tied for second in par-5 scoring (-1) and third in par-4 scoring (+18)—a combination that kept them firmly in the top three despite a few costly holes.

Sadaly Campbell led the Fire with an even-par 72 and is tied for third individually. Campbell delivered one of the steadiest rounds in the field, recording 16 pars—most in the tournament—and ranking tied for second in par-4 scoring (3.90, -1). Her round featured a birdie on the opening hole and just one bogey the rest of the way, as she closed with six consecutive pars.

Emma Tobias finished at 1-over 73 (T-6) after recovering from an early double bogey and two additional bogeys. Tobias responded with four birdies (holes 8, 11, 14, and 17) and currently sits tied for fourth in both par-4 scoring (4.00) and total birdies.

Alejandra Cuellar added a 2-over 74 (T-9), highlighted by five birdies—tied for the most in the field—and a share of the lead in par-5 scoring (-2). She rebounded from a double bogey on 14 with a closing birdie on 18 to remain inside the top 10.

Abbey Peterson posted a 79 (T-16), bouncing back from an early triple bogey with steady mid-round play and a birdie on the final hole. Savannah Thessing rounded out the lineup with an 86.

At the top of the individual leaderboard, Jiayin Wang of SCAD Savannah leads at 3-under 69, followed by teammate Jiahui Shan at 1-under 71. Campbell is part of a three-way tie for third alongside Sophia Sindersberger and Faye Wheatley of Keiser.

The second round begins Monday at 7:30 a.m., with play starting on No. 1. Savannah Thessing will lead Southeastern off at 8:50 a.m. as the Fire look to build on a steady opening round and close the gap at the top of the leaderboard.
