SARASOTA, Fla. – No. 4 Southeastern women's tennis opened Sun Conference competition with a 4-0 victory over New College of Florida on Wednesday afternoon. The Fire move to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Sun play, while the Mighty Banyans fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Isabella Bolivar Garces and
Chloe Do Lago set the tone with a quick 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles over Alexandra Sibrikova and A. Rizzo.
Leonie Schondelmaier and
Aurora Compagnucci followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles against Madeleine Chellas and Camila Cardona-Carballosa to clinch the point for the Fire. The No. 1 doubles match featuring
Alessia Ciampi and
Martina Picardi against Emilia Schulte and Itza Rogel went unfinished.
Holding a 1-0 advantage entering singles play, Southeastern quickly closed out the match with three straight victories.
Aurora Compagnucci extended the Fire lead with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, followed shortly by
Chloe Do Lago posting another 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 6 singles.
Martina Picardi then secured the match-clinching point at No. 1 singles, defeating Camila Cardona-Carballosa 6-1, 6-1.
Singles matches at Nos. 2, 3, and 4 remained unfinished once the team result was decided.
Southeastern returns to action on March 3 for a neutral-site matchup against Davenport at 11:30 a.m. in Altamonte Springs, Florida at Sanlando Park.
