GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Southeastern opened the 2026 Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship with a series of record-setting performances and national qualifying marks Friday, positioning the Fire women in first place and the men in second after day one of competition.
Through 10 of 21 events scored on the women's side, Southeastern leads the field with 149 points, ahead of St. Thomas (Fla.) (113). Keiser and SCAD Savannah are tied for third with 28 points, followed by Ave Maria (25), Warner (13), and Florida Memorial (12).
On the men's side, Southeastern sits second with 71 points through nine scored events. St. Thomas leads with 134, followed by Keiser (62), Warner (29), SCAD Savannah (19), Ave Maria (14), and Florida Memorial (13).
Records Fall in Gainesville
The Fire turned in multiple historic performances, highlighted by several school and facility records.
Jack Brooks broke the Southeastern school record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.67, now ranking No. 1 in program history. He later added a sixth-place finish in the final, while Jeremy Durbin placed eighth.
In the race walk, Southeastern dominated both fields.
Ashlyn Poulin delivered one of the top performances in the NAIA this season, breaking the SEU school and facility record in the women's 3000m race walk with a time of 14:17.69. Her mark ranks No. 2 nationally, No. 1 in the Sun Conference, and met the NAIA 'A' standard.
Kodi Quimby followed with a record-setting performance of his own in the men's 3000m race walk, clocking 13:56.64 to break the school and facility records. His time ranks No. 10 in the NAIA and secured a 'B' standard.
Olga Gomez added another major milestone for the Fire, breaking both the school and facility records in the 200 meters with a 24.10 finish. She placed second overall, currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA, and achieved the NAIA 'A' standard.
Event Titles and Podium Finishes
Alyssa Morley claimed first in the high jump with a clearance of 1.52 meters and followed with a victory in the long jump at 5.57 meters, a mark that ranks second in program history and third in the conference this season.
Maci Mills won the women's 800 meters in 2:14.30, earning an NAIA 'A' standard while moving to No. 4 on SEU's all-time list and No. 2 in the conference this year.
The mixed distance medley relay team of
George Clark,
Antiana Walsh,
Dario Laing, and
Ar'Briel Scott captured first place in 3:39.39, adding key points to the team total.
In the field events,
Jonathan Grant finished second in the pole vault (4.60m), while
Emma Terry (11.92m) and
MarieAnge Moussignac (11.54m) placed second and third in the women's shot put.
Cody Rand added a fourth-place finish in the men's shot put (14.25m), and
Isaiah Burns placed fifth in the long jump (6.76m).
In the women's 5000 meters,
Joslyn Armstrong (3rd – 18:43.64),
Ashlin Price (4th – 18:49.80), and
Acadia Donovan (5th – 19:01.29) combined for significant points in a tightly contested race.
Southeastern placed four athletes in the top five of the women's 3000m race walk, including NAIA qualifiers
Jocelyn Rivera ('A' standard) and
Juliet Leatherbarrow ('B' standard). On the men's side, three Fire competitors finished in the top five, with
Nathaniel Chenowith also achieving a 'B' standard.
The women's distance medley relay team of
Riley McKinney,
Katherine Odita,
Natalie Rohm, and
Izzy Colebank finished fourth in 13:15.23, while the men's quartet of
Noah Joos,
Zakaiel Crawford,
Levi Gustafson, and
Tobias Dickerson placed third in 10:44.28, moving to No. 3 on SEU's all-time list.
Areeyanna Bonds secured a third-place finish in the 400 meters (59.20), and
Ar'Briel Scott added a fourth-place showing (1:00.26).
Antiana Walsh placed fifth in the 200 meters (24.96), while
Kevin Davis Jr. matched that finish in the men's 200 meters (22.22).
With 11 events remaining on the schedule, the Fire women hold a 36-point advantage entering the final day, while the men remain in strong position in second. Day two of the 2026 Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship will determine the team titles as Southeastern looks to build on a productive opening performance in Gainesville.
