JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- Southeastern men's golf delivered a competitive performance at the 2026 Coastal Georgia Men's Winter Invite, placing fifth in a deep 17-team field at Jekyll Island Golf Club's Great Dunes Course. The Fire finished the 54-hole event at 894 (+30), navigating two rounds on Monday and a final round Tuesday on the par-72, 7,014-yard layout.
SEU opened the tournament with a strong 291 (+3) in round one, sitting inside the top tier of the leaderboard and just a handful of shots off the lead. The Fire added a 297 (+9) in round two to remain firmly in the top five entering the final day. A 306 (+18) in the closing round proved challenging as scoring climbed across the field, but Southeastern still secured a top-five finish behind nationally ranked programs. No. 15 Webber International captured the team title at 871 (+7), followed by No. 14 OUAZ and No. 12 Coastal Georgia.
Individually,
Marley Read led the Fire with a tie for 13th at 222 (+6). After a first-round 78, Read responded with back-to-back even-par 72s to surge up the leaderboard. He totaled seven birdies and 37 pars, showing consistency across all three rounds and posting SEU's best finish.
Zach Shaw turned in a tie for 18th at 224 (+8). Shaw opened with a sharp 71 (-1), one of the Fire's top rounds of the week, and added rounds of 75 and 78. His 38 pars were the most on the team, and he played the par-5s effectively with a 5.25 scoring average.
A pair of Fire golfers tied for 22nd at 225 (+9).
Scott Starbuck carded rounds of 74-74-77, collecting seven birdies and 34 pars while maintaining steady scoring throughout the event.
Gray Ottman flashed the lowest round by any Fire player with a 68 (-4) in the opening round. Ottman finished with a team-best nine birdies and averaged an even 3.00 on par-3 holes.
Cody Williams completed the lineup with a tie for 55th at 235 (+19). He recorded seven birdies and 26 pars across his three rounds, highlighted by a second-round 76.
The individual race was led by Webber International's Tristan Greenleaf at 208 (-8), with Coastal Georgia's Antonio Juarbe (-3) and Columbia International's Luke Hammond (-2) rounding out the top three.
Southeastern continues its spring slate on February 16–17 at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite in Valdosta, Georgia. The two-day event will be held at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, one of the region's premier championship layouts.Â
